SPRING TO SUMMER...

Our little butterfly whose wings never formed. His name is Squishy.

Riding his new bike...

Hello All!
Hoping this post finds you all well and happy. I am happy to say that life has been pretty uneventful since the last post. Well, uneventful for us...
We are now the proud owners of a 29 foot King's Cruiser sailboat and I can't wait to get out on the water and explore this beautiful coastline. It will have to wait for Andrew to get back from EH, where he is working for a few weeks. I'm working like crazy doing the rep thing and developing a few new lines to make me even busier. Never an actual dull moment around here.
Ian and I will be heading south to EH next week to see Andrew and some old friends. Not sure how I feel about it, as my old hometown has NOT changed for the better...
In other news, Ian is 5... He has been accepted at the Center for Teaching and Learning in Edgecomb. This is huge for us, as it is an amazing school. I can't believe my little boy is going to school in the fall. Double-edged sword, and all... I will miss having my shadow with me all day, though, now I'll be able to really concentrate on working..
Looking forward to the summer to get started. Lots of family visiting and I can't wait to share our life with everyone.
Big Love,
Sarah

RENAMING THIS BLOG TO "MANY APOLOGIES."

Not Really...

What a crazy bunch of months.... A giant thanks to everyone who got us to this point. We couldn't have done it with out you. We've been in the new house for four whole months, now...A lot has changed and much has stayed the same. Either way, it is HOME. The wood stove did its job and did it well. We were warm and toasty all through this incredibly loooonnnnnnggggg winter. And chili cooked slowly on top of it has never tasted so good. We finally got propane in late January which meant I could do dishes and wash my hands, etc. in warm water. Yes folks, I have learned to appreciate things like warm water. Our shower was just recently finished and I was able to shower without having to get dressed, trudge up the hill to Andrew's parent's house. It was the best shower of my life. The bathroom window overlooks the woods and the shower head comes down from the ceiling like a rain shower. It's like taking a rain shower in the trees... Can you tell I'm excited?

Now down to other highlights... Christmas was wonderful and quiet. Andrew and Ian got a tree from the 20 or so acres of pines and it was perfect. Ian wrote his very first list for Santa and I am astounded at how little he asks for. He is so appreciative of everything, and it makes me proud. This was a VERY lean year for us and am thankful for the fact that Santa was able to make good on the list. Andrew's dad had had leg surgery to alleviate some of the pain he'd been having, but he was in great spirits during the holidays. He's up and around now and doing better than before.

New Year's was spent at a good friend's house with his family who also happen to be great friends of ours. The house was filled with laughter, great stories and dancing children. So much fun.

And now it's the end of March. My business is doing well and people are ordering for the upcoming seasons. It feels good to be back in it and getting out and selling. Looking forward to a summer filled with sun, impromptu get togethers, sand in my toes, a garden full of salads and lots of laughter. Here are some of the highlights of the last few months...

HOME SWEET HOME

Hello All!!!

Well, we are in. Sort of. Day by day, more of our stuff comes in and makes this feel more and more like home. We still have a long way to go, but it is wonderful to finally be here. The wood stove keeps us insanely warm and works for reheating food... The view is incredible and waking up with the sun doesn't seem like a bad thing. Still trying to work out some kinks, but, we'll get there.

I had the joy of cooking Thanksgiving dinner for the family. Aside from some slightly dry turkey, it was great. It was nice to be able to do it for the ones who have made this move possible. Enough said... More soon!

Sarah

FEELS LIKE HOME

Well, it looks as though we are destined to move in the cold. Andrew has been working his butt off to get this done. He has had to be carpenter, plumber, electrician and designer on this job. I will move in a blizzard to get into this house. The floor is done, most of the plumbing is done, the electric is in, most of the sheetrock is up. Ian's room is ready for painting and decorating. The rumor is that we will be hosting Thanksgiving here, but I don't see how. One thing about Andrew is that he has a tendency to get things done in the 11th hour. I love this house. I love the proximity to the nature around us and how close we are to Ian's grandparents. Every time I go to check on progress, I cry a little. My husband has built this house for us. Granted, he has had some help, but, mostly, he is there, alone, trying to get this done. For that, I am grateful. Thank you Bryan, Gene, Conlon, Tim, Nancy and Henry and everyone else for helping us get this far. My next post will be when we have moved in. In the meantime, I will be busy packing.
Big Love,
Sarah

STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN

Well, the house is taking longer than expected. Big surprise? No. There is a lot that goes into building a house and Andrew is doing it all by himself. Plumbing, electrical, floor, windows, roof, etc...
The other thing he did by himself was a set of stairs. During our last conversation about how they should be, we had settled on something very simple and pretty boring. That's what I thought we were going with. I got a call the other day from Andrew saying that the stairs were done and did I want to come see. It was late in the day and I just wasn't that excited. I opted to go see them the following day. I brought my camera so I could take pics of another phase in construction. When I walked in, I saw this:

The stairs are made entirely from a fallen tree from the property. It was one he was going to use as a beam at one point. They are sturdy, comfortable and beautiful. The railing will be made out of recycled copper pipe. I have never seen a more beautiful set of stairs. Ever. I hope you all will get a chance to see them and use them. I never thought I would fall in love with a set of stairs. But can you blame me?

Sarah
